Treating the Cause and Not the Symptoms

I was rapping with a buddy of mine about relationships (as always – because I am a sociologist by nature), and we were talking about the love languages and the communication differences and styles between men and women. There is more literature written on the subject than a little bit, and every author has his spin when delivering the message.

Now I feel like the Lord is the author and finisher of my faith, so what He has to say about relationships is the nuts and bolts of it all. Notwithstanding, I do understand that the spiritual perspective can be somewhat overwhelming for some, so the need for plain and simple terms is essential. And again, some can take the advice better if it’s not wrapped up all pretty in a biblical bow.

Nevertheless, human nature is what it is; the various levels of consciousness are what they are. Some people like getting deep and others like to keep it simple and superficial. Some people like more, some feel more comfortable with less. Whatever your preference, you decide, and it is absolutely everyone right to march to the beats of their drums and do what works for them.

My favorite line has always been “YOU CANNOT EXPECT PEOPLE TO BE MORE THAN WHO THEY ARE OR MORE THAN WHO THEY ARE CAPABLE OF BEING…. TO DO SO IS UNFAIR TO BOTH OF YOU”.

While I haven’t always lived by those words, I do try to keep them in mind.

I have this unrealistic view of the universe that we can all somehow get this thing right and live right and love right, be right and do right and live happily ever after….

I just keep forgetting that while true, it is for the next life and the next earth age and not necessarily this one (LOL).

I know for many of you, my writings err on the side of deep. But not all. I am a very complex individual, and I have learned that not being myself makes me MISERABLE. It’s a form of self-punishment and self- hate not to embrace who you are and all the facets that come along with it.

Of course, it’s easy for others to discount what they see, for it is in our human psyche to reject that which and those whom we do not understand or feel comfortable with. That is okay. Because when there is nothing but love and acceptance involved, it is easier to understand rejection without taking it personally.

Sym It is nothing that can be done carelessly or quickly. It must be done fearlessly, and it could take YEARS.

But since time is something you can never get back or give back, why not spend each moment of each day is the very best person you can be with the very best outlook you can have, understanding that while others are not at the same place or pace, you still share the same space and eventually everything wears off…. including love.
