HOW TO ROCK SUMMER BEAUTY By: Adrienne Stewart

Summer can sometimes be a bummer when it comes to your skin. In no time, you can experience an array of skin and makeup issues from flakiness, oiliness, sunburns and breakouts to runny makeup and foundations in the wrong shade.

Here are some tips to help you stay gorgeous in hot weather.

SKIN CARE

HYDRATE. You may have eased up on this since up for good. A consistent moisturizing routine a light moisturizer and eye cream to protect agents like sunburns, salt and chlorine.

EXFOLIATE. Dead skin cells accumulate and a gentle facial scrub weekly will not only help will also keep your skin free of clogged pores and create a your exfoliating ritual for the evening or for days when you aren’t heading straight from the shower to the pool or extreme heat.

PROTECT. Dermatologists recommend applying a minimum of one ounce of sunscreen 30 minutes before sun exposure and to reapply every two hours or immediately after swimming. Make sure you cover all exposed areas of the body. Don’t depend on clothing for protection alone. Experts say that an average t-shirt only provides an SPF of about 8. Pretty slim, right?

SUMMER SHADES – From Natural Hues to Colors That Pop
As your skin gets that pretty, sun-kissed glow, you may need a different foundation and concealer shade to accommodate changes between your winter and summer coloring. You can even opt for a tinted moisturizer or a bronzer to keep your regimen light.

HAIR CARE

Just like your skin, you should also keep your hair hydrated and protected from the summer heat.

For a regular moisturizer, I recommend a hair mist or a small squirt of hair serum to give it a shine and to help maintain moisture. To get rid of build up, I recommend a clarifying shampoo. For protection, especially for color treated hair, I recommend a product such as Fructis Color Shield, which protects your hair up to 8 weeks. To maintain a natural curl or wavy hair especially after a few dips in the ocean, add a leave-in conditioner and let your hair air dry.
