Britne’ Jones recalls that defining moment she had the opportunity to be introduced to Sports Broadcasting. She took a phone call from a good friend who just interviewed on a Sports Radio/Podcast. He was excited, and so was she. At that moment, she decided that she would follow her passion. She asked her friend if he would introduce her to the network owner. He obliged.

After speaking in detail about her sports knowledge and background, the network owner graciously invited Britne’ to guest co-host one of her shows. She shined brightly and loved every minute talking about all sports with another female that knew all sports. After the show, Britne’ was informed it was an audition, and there were thousands of live listeners. The network owner, Mrs. Princess Cooper, invited Britne’ to co-host an all-female cast Sports Talk Show. This was the creation of “She Knows Sports with Britne’ & Princess.”

Britne’ Jones’s love for sports began at the early age of 7, and she is a fan of all sports. She played basketball in Middle and High School. She admired many greats such as Allen Iverson, Kobe Bryant, Mia Hamm, Dawn Staley, Teresa Weatherspoon, and so many more.

Britne’ is a resident of the Tri-State Area, who attended Rowan University where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts and MBA. She was a color commentator for Rowan’s radio station’s men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Now, you can hear her live on “She Knows Sports with Britne’ and Princess” every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (EST), where they talk all sports all the time. Call-Ins to the show are welcome to join in and share their views.

You can call Britne’s show “She Knows Sports with Britne’ & Princess” at 347-637-3286 on Thursdays at 7 p.m. EST. The show airs on several platforms such as Spotify, iHeart Radio, Apple Podcast, Google Podcast, TuneIn, and Blog Talk Radio.

You can follow Britne’ on Instagram @sheknowssportsbnp and Facebook @SheKnowsSportsBritnePrincess.

How old were you when you knew this was your calling and what you were going to do for the rest of your life?
I knew I wanted to do something sports-oriented when my dad put my first basketball into my hands; I was around eight (8) years old. The feeling of excitement went through my little body, and I fell in with the game of basketball. My dad realized my excitement for the game and enrolled me in several youth leagues. The joy the game brought me made me realize I needed basketball always to be a part of my life.

Along with basketball, I also fell in love with football, baseball, track, and many other sports. I fell in love with the competitive nature and the many relationships built from playing sports. My dad and I would have intense conversations around sports, which allowed me to hone my skills and feel the passion even more.

Watching women like Pam Oliver and Jemele Hill, who look like me, opened my eyes to the possibility of sports broadcasting. While attending Rowan University, I became a part of Rowan Radio, where I participated as a Color Commentator for the men’s and women’s basketball teams.

Many years later, this led to me having the opportunity to co-host my own sports show called “She Knows Sports with Britne’ and Princess” every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. (EST). It allows me to share my passion, express my views, and show those listening that a woman is just as knowledgeable in sports in the male-dominated industry of Sports Broadcasting. So, make sure you tune in!

How do you maintain your integrity in an otherwise highly competitive and sometimes unscrupulous industry, as business at times can be cutthroat?
I maintain my integrity by sticking to my morals and staying positive. I speak my truth even if it’s hard for others to hear. I stand my ground in the face of adversity. I maintain ethical standards for moral and social conduct related to any business I’m involved in.

What is your definition of peace? What is your definition of success?
My definition of peace is not allowing someone’s action or words to impact me negatively. Peace is a state of calmness. Peace is a feeling of wholeness and happiness within me.

My definition of success is always doing my best and putting my best foot forward. Success is a feeling of accomplishment. Understanding that I determine what success is and not allowing anyone else to define what success is for me. As long as I’m happy, have a feeling of positivity, and am proud of myself, that is my definition of success.

Would you consider yourself a driven person? What makes you a powerhouse? What is the source of your strength?
Yes, I would consider myself a driven person. When I want to accomplish something, I go for it – wanting to fulfill a sense of accomplishment and a sense of purpose. Being able to walk in my purpose and shine my light is what drives me.

Britne’ Jones of She Knows Sports talkshow.

My confidence, determination, and strength make me a true powerhouse. Understanding who I am as an individual and growing into my purpose makes me a powerhouse. Learning not to be afraid to shine the bright light that God has blessed me with makes me a powerhouse. God is the source of my strength. With God, anything is possible and will open any door that someone tries to shut!

What do you do just for fun?
I enjoy spending lots of time with family; family means everything to me. I love to travel; there is so much I have yet to see and experience in this amazing world. I love sports, and I am a true Philadelphia fan (Eagles, Sixers, Flyers, Phillies).

I enjoy listening to music and have an old soul when it comes to music. My favorite artists are Stevie Wonder and Anita Baker. How can you honestly like today’s music without a genuine appreciation for old skool music?!

I’m also very adventurous; I love to zipline, jet ski, drive ATVs, etc. Laughter is my medication. I am very silly and love to laugh.

What type of legacy do you wish to leave?
The legacy I would like to leave is to know that I treated others with kindness, love, and respect. I want to know that I made a difference and positively impacted many people’s lives.

I am a true believer that we are not here for ourselves but for others. Our testimony/story gives us the ability to help others and help guide them on their journey. Also, I want my family to be proud of me and to know I gave it my all.

If there’s one thing you could change about your past, what would it be?
I honestly wouldn’t change anything about my past. My past has led to my successes. My failures have taught me so much about myself, and they allow me to help others throughout my journey. Failures are not failures; instead, they are our lessons. Our life lessons help us to become the best versions of ourselves. We need to stop looking at it as a failure but instead a lesson. I’m still young and have many more lessons to learn.

    Are you single?
Yes, I’m single and ready to mingle…LOL

Who’s been the greatest influence in your life?
My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and my mom are my greatest influences. With God, anything is possible. I am blessed with so much in my life. I thank God for every lesson and success because they have taught me so much. They have also brought me closer to God’s plan designed for me.

My mom is my hero, best friend, mentor, and greatest inspiration. She is the strongest person I know and will not hesitate to give a helping hand to anyone. Her faith in God is immeasurable and continues to lead in how she approaches each day.
