As time winds down to our last performance of BUILT ON A LIE in the city of “Brotherly Love” Philadelphia, I realize all of the many lessons I’ve learned the hard way and along the way. This show is the making of our history as we tape live to DVD and have the opportunity to capture on film, the audience reaction after the play.
While the reviews were high this summer, the one thing I did not do is get that “caught on tape,” but we do better when we know better, and now I know. I am so grateful for the Universe closing doors that I never dared to keep locked and the first ones that I was too scared to walk through.
All in all, experience has always been and will always be the best teacher. Revelation is par for the course, and that too is something I’ve had difficulty with accepting. However, no one said that the truth wouldn’t hurt, only that it would set you free.
This has been an enjoyable experience, and if knowledge is power, then wisdom is priceless. I hope that my complete transparency during the writing and production of this work will heal others who have had or are going through the same experience.
For in all honesty, at some point, we have all had a moment when we realized some part or portion of our lives or experience had been built on a lie.
